Archaeologyand paleontology are basically synonymous terms in English, even sisteracademic disciplines, yet they represent different fields of scientificinvestigation. While both deal with the past, they work with distinctlydifferent materials and time periods. Archaeologists dig in the dirt down tothe earth's bedrock surface looking for the remains of human civilizations.Paleontologists work in that bedrock looking for fossils and dinosaur bones.The earth's bedrock surface - the watershed between these two fields of study -was the result of Noah's Flood. A proper understanding of these two scientificdisciplines offers valuable insights to appreciate the text and message of thebook of Genesis.
